Our history

Tailchaser Fishing Products was founded in 1989, initially manufacturing shark rigs and custom trolling lures for local saltwater fisherman in the Southern California area. We later expanded our product line to include jet-head lures and tuna feathers. We pioneered the manufacture and use of spreader rigs, daisy chains, and predator/prey rigs in Southern California.

By 1996, we were the largest manufacturer of spreader rigs in the world. During the mid-1990s, we began O.E.M. manufacturing for several prominent lure manufacturers in our state-of-the-art facility in Brea, CA, and added cedar plugs, lure bags, and birds to our product lineup.

In 1999, Tailchaser purchased a tournament rigged, 38' Topaz Express Sportfisher for use as the perfect platform to develop and field test our lures. A year later, we incorporated as Tailchaser Sportfishing, Inc., and began chartering the Tailchaser, which quickly became one of the most active and successful 6-pack charter boats in California.

In 2001, we acquired Pacific Offshore Outfitters, adding various hooks, swivels, and rigging supplies to our product lineup. Our inventory now offers more than 300 products in a multitude of colors, shapes and sizes, and supplies lures to distributors, tackle retailers, charter boats, and private boaters worldwide.

In 2021, we relocated from Huntington Beach, California to Southport, North Carolina. It was a big move from one amazing coastal region to another. We've unpacked and settled in to our new facility, and have some great new products to offer.
